July 12 , 2010 Dara Byrne sent
me an article about her Uncle Charlie's passing in June. He spend thirteen years raising
money for the impoverished in Malawi and was a highly regarded man in Drogheda.. See the

Byrne (James' brother - our starting point grandfather) A few days ago I received some photos from Louis Ruane. These are pictures of the Byrne Family 'compound' that was referred to in the '16th Century Byrnes' page. That page says... (Family information provided courtesy of Mrs. Nellie

‘C.F.’ O’Byrne and his daughter Ita O’Byrne) The Byrne Family came to Loughanboy, Bekan, Co. Mayo
some time in the 16th Century, perhaps during the time of the Cromwellian
Plantation. Cormac Byrne We can trace our ancestry to Mr. Cormac Byrne. Born
circa 1785. Five other Byrne families came from Co. Wicklow. The Byrne families
owned a few hundred acres of land in
Loughanboy. Together. they built six houses that formed a self-contained village with
their own place of worship and their own cemetery. The families were very good farmers and
developers of the land, they built stone walls around the fields and built dwellings and

February 19, 2010 A few days ago I received a note from Mr. Paul Burns in Florida and he gave be a link to a website that contains entries for many common Irish and English names. If you scroll down the list you will see an entry for the BYRNE name. There is great information there on the Byrne family name from way, way back. Take a look ! Mr. Bynes is also interested in finding Byrne men who have done DNA testing, you will see the DNA link on the same website.Through DNA testing you can determine from which of Byrne 'Kings' you are a direct descendant. http://www.selectsurnames.com/index.html January 4, 2010 I received some wedding photos from Michael and Colleen Sheahan. November 16, 2009 I received two notes from Mr. Peter English from Durham, England. Peter has some very interesting information about the Lyons family from Spaddagh. We have not sorted out the details but if you want to see the correspondence click on the link below. October 29, 2009 I added new pictures for the Ruane Family after my visit there in August/September. Plus a new photo of Nellie Byrne. Colleen is the daughter of Michael and Blanche Byrne and granddaughter of Mick and Lena Byrne of Chicago. Lyons' page kate.htm January 20, 2009. Regret to inform you all but Ms. Mary Ruane of Monkstown, Co. Dublin passed away on January 20, 2009. Mary was the sister of Andrew Ruane of Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo (deceased) and 'Aunt Mary' to all the Ruane family. Mary will be buried with her parents and her brother, Tom in the family plot in Deansgrange Cemetery Dublin. Crossan threw a party on Sunday February 10, 2008 at their beautiful home in Camarillo,
California. The guests of honor were Rory Ruane and his son Fintan visiting from Ireland.
Tony Ruane from San Francisco also drove down from San Francisco for the occasion. But
mostly it was a chance for the O'Connells, Ruanes, Stewarts and good friends to get

Martin and Wendy Ruane (Ventura, California) announced that they are expecting their first child, a baby girl, in March 2006. Congratulations Wendy and Martin!
To see pictures of Barry and Mel Ruane's baby shower in California click on the link below. Barry and Mel were visiting from Australia with cousin Martin and Wendy Ruane in Los Angeles in October to do some sightseeing, travel up to San Francisco and catch some music along the way. They stopped long enough to visit Uncle Andrew and Aunt Emma, enjoying a bite to eat and open presents for the baby who is expected in about 10 weeks.
